Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a verification system, which is employed to prevent the so-called e-mail spoofing where an email message is sent from one e-mail address, but to appear as being sent from a different one, typically with the purpose to fraud the recipient someway. When SPF protection is activated for a domain, a specific record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all the DNS servers globally receive it. The record includes all email servers that are permitted to send authentic messages from an e-mail address within the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it encounters checks the SPF record and when the sending server is authorized, the message is forwarded to the targeted destination. When, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the particular domain, the email message will not be submitted and it will be discarded. When you employ this service, it will stop third parties from sending spam which look as if they have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

When you host your domain names in a shared hosting account on our end and we manage the e-mail addresses for them, you'll be able to enable SPF protection for them with several clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is accessible in a separate section where you'll be able to see which domains are currently secured. For those that are not, you will be able to activate the SPF protection solution and set up numerous things during this process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, as well as to set a rule that email messages can be sent only if your domain names include our MX records. The last mentioned solution is the most secure one, but you can use it when we handle the email addresses for your domains and do not use a different email supplier. The newly generated records will propagate within 24 hours and nobody will be able to fake the FROM field in an email using your addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you host your domains in a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will be able to benefit from the SPF protection feature as a part of the conventional collection of services that you will have with this type of hosting. Activating the protection will require just several simple steps inside the Hepsia Control Panel, therefore even in case you have never employed such a feature before, you won't have any troubles. Employing a very user-friendly interface, you'll simply have to type in the information of the mail server which will be authorized to send out messages from your addresses - its hostname (mail.server.com) and IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). The moment the newly created record propagates, no one will be able to forge any email address for that particular domain and send out e-mail messages from a server other than the one you've entered. This doesn't necessarily have to be our mail server, however when we handle your email messages, you will be able to activate an extra level of security by selecting an option that e-mail messages can be send from addresses @your-domain.com only in the event that the domain uses our MX records. Our technical support team can assist you 24/7 if you have any kind of questions related to this service.
