Any time you add a domain as hosted in some account, you normally set a pair of Name Servers to point it to that particular service provider. On their end, three records are created automatically the moment the domain is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, that “tells” the Internet domain where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they indicate the server that manages the e-mails for that specific domain address. The site and the e-mail hosting are usually thought to be one thing, when they're in reality two different services. Having separate records for them will allow you to have them with different providers if you'd like. For instance, some new provider could have outstanding uptime for your site, but you might not want to switch your e-mails from your current host and by employing an A record to point the domain name to the first and MX records to have the e-mails with the second, you could get the best of both providers. These records are checked when you want to open a website or send an email - either way, the company whose name servers are used for the domain address will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you've set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you are going to see the needed website or your email will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting

If you have a shared hosting account with our company and you want to point either your website or your e-mails to an alternative company, it is going to take you literally just 2 clicks to do it. Our Hepsia CP offers an easy-to-use DNS Records tool, where all your domain names and subdomains will be listed alphabetically and you'll be able to see and modify the A and/or MX records for any of them. If you wish to use a different e-mail provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default 2, it is not going to take more than a few mouse clicks either to add them. You may also set different latency for these records and the lower the latency, the higher the priority a certain MX record will have. The propagation of every record that you change or create isn't going to take more than a few hours and if required, you will also be able to set the so-called Time-To-Live value, that reveals how long a record will remain active after it's modified or deleted.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

With the semi-dedicated servers we provide, you're going to have 100 % control over the records of all domain addresses and subdomains you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records each of them has through the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting CP and editing any record takes as little as a couple of clicks. If you choose to change your web or email hosting provider, you can update the necessary record and point your domain to the other company for one of the services, as you still carry on using the other one through us. You may also keep the main domain here, while you change the A record of only one of its subdomains. If you are changing the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the standard two that we have, you could create them with ease and set a different priority for each and every one.
