One of the most effective ways to limit the access to your website is to block the IP addresses of those that mustn't be able to open it. There are numerous good reasons to do that. For example, you may want a certain individual not to be able to see your website, or you can restrict the access for an entire country. You may also block IP addresses in case you detect that there are way too many web browser requests from them, if many spam comments are left on your websites or if a script login page has been loaded a lot of times. In any of these cases, the traffic is most likely fake and has been created by an automatic bot, so you can safely block any shady IP address, in order to be on the safe side. Thus, you will also avoid the chance of your server getting overloaded by many fake requests.

IP Blocking in Shared Hosting

Our shared hosting service provide an IP blocking tool, so if you'd like to limit the access to your sites, you will be able to do this with simply a couple of clicks. The tool is provided with the Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with all accounts and that is very simple to use. When you log in and go to the IP blocking section, you'll just need to select a domain or a subdomain hosted inside the account and input the IP address which should be blocked. Our system will permit you to block entire networks also, so if you type in 123.123.123., for example, this will block all IP addresses between 123.123.123.1 and 123.123.123.255 from accessing your sites. In case you wish to whitelist an IP at some point, you may unblock it with a mouse click from the same section.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, included with our semi-dedicated servers, will allow you to solve the matter with unwanted traffic very easily and quickly. It includes an IP blocking tool where you may add IP addresses with a few mouse clicks. All domains and subdomains which you have inside the account shall be listed in a drop-down menu, so you only need to select the one you need and then enter the IP address which should be blocked. If you want to block a whole range, a C-class network for example, you just need to enter the first 3 octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That shall block all 254 addresses, so you shall not need to type in them manually. As all the IPs you include in this section will be listed, you may very easily unblock any of them by clicking the Delete button associated with the particular IP.
